Outpost Rink Rules and Guidelines:
In order to keep the rink and ice available to the public as much as possible and in the best shape possible, there are are few tips and tricks we try to abide by:
If you are going to shovel snow off the rink, please shovel the ENTIRE rink. Only shoveling small sections makes it extremely difficult to resurface. We appreciate the help shoveling, but do not expect it. See shoveling tips at the bottom…
Please remove everything from the ice, including goals, before you leave. Anything left on the ice can melt into the ice and create an uneven surface.
Do not dig holes in the ice.
Keep snow off the ice.
If you shoot a puck off the rink, please try and retrieve it.
Kids have priority over adults.
Please put sticks, pucks, and shovels, etc. back in the bins when you are done skating.
Be safe, have fun.
Shoveling tips:
If you want to help shovel, we are very grateful for the help. Shoveling improperly can actually create more work for us, so here are a few tips if you are interested:
If you are going to shovel, shovel the ENTIRE rink. As stated above, shoveling only part of it makes the ice inconsistent and then difficult to resurface smoothly. Consistency is key.
Get all of the snow over the boards and completely off of the ice.
The metal shovel is the most effective, however the trickiest- you have to have it at just the right angle. Make sure to hold the handle to the side of your body and not right in front of your body in case you hit a bump.
Thank you for helping us take care of the rink so we can all enjoy it!
